Soon it will be possible to register domain names with the .DO extension. By allowing this, the Dominican register will surely simplify the use of its domain names. Until now they were only reachable under .DO “second level” extensions such as .COM.DO, WEB.DO or NET.DO…to only name a few.
The Sunrise period for the .DO domain names will start on December, 10th 2009 and the registrations will be valid for two years.
Until the 10th of March 2010, the Dominican Register will protect all the domain names which have been registered before the 30th of October 2009 in one of the .DO “second level” extensions (such as .COM.DO, etc). After this time, if the holders still haven’t shown, their domain names will become available again to all.
