.FR, .WF, .RE, .YT, .PM, and .TF open to Europe

We informed you in September that .WF (Wallis and Futuna), .RE (Island of Réunion), .YT (Mayotte Island), .PM (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon) and .TF (French Southern Islands) would become available by the end of the year, according to the law of March 22, 2011.
It is now a fact, the AFNIC announced yesterday on its website the availability of these extensions. From now on, the extensions will follow the same rules as .FR ; they will be opened to all individuals and companies in the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein. Before non-French citizens had to have a local address or they needed to have a registered trademark in France in order to register a .FR domain name.
On December 6th at 1 :30 pm, there were already 3500 domain names registered. 50% of the registrations were for .FR, whereas 18% of them were for .RE, 11 % for .PM, 8 % for .YT ,and only 6 % for .WF and 5 % for .TF.
