Until now, the legal registration or renewal period for a .CO.UK domain name was 2 years. But Nominet, the Registry of the English extension, has decided to change this. As of May 1, 2012 it will be possible to register a .CO.UK domain name for 1 to 10 years, according to your own preference!
With this change, the British Registry hopes to offer more security on a long term basis to the concerned holders. They also want to make it easier so owners don’t have to worry every two years about renewing their domain name.
