The Landrush for the .ME starts today !

Montenegro, independent since 2006, claims his identity on the web. The Sunrise period for the new .ME domain extension has started on May 6th.

Since Yougaslavia doesn’t exist anymore, the .co.yu extension had been deleted. The extensions .rs/.co.rs (Serbia) and .me (Montenegro) are now available. The .me can be very interesting for companies that wish to enforce their presence in the Balkan area. But besides this target group, the domain extension holds some other interesting poissibilities. Just think of domain names as protect.me, remind.me, buy.me,… This means the .me could join the .it (Italy) in the list of gimmick domain name extensions.

For .ME, .CO.RS and .RS registrations :

.ME (Montenegro)
- Since the 22 May 2008, we have activated a queue for the public at large .
- The landrush period starts today and runs until June 26th, 2008.
- There will be no restriction
- The registration must directly be submitted for 2 years
- The deadline to place your name in landrush is on Monday the 26th June 2008 12:00
- If several applications, there will be an auction and the domain name will be assigned to the highest bidder (Auction from 26 June 2008 to 15 July 2008): it is also during this period that all demands will be investigated.

.CO.RS/.RS:
- A local administrative contact is needed (but we can provide you with)
- As from 11 March 2008, .co.rs domain names are available for registration.
- If a domein name already exists under the .co.yu extension, the owner gets priority in registering this name under the .co.rs extension. This “parenting”-procedure automatically blocks all domains in the .co.rs extension if they are already registered under the .co.yu extension, as to not disadvantage the owner. If the owner hasn’t confirmed the registration of the .co.rs domain by September 10th, 2008, the name becomes available for registration again.
