How do I configure URL forwarding?

A. What is URL forwarding?

With URL forwarding you can connect a domain name with the contents of a website.

If your website is hosted elsewhere, you can create an automatic link to that website by entering the URL.


B. How to activate URL forwarding?

- Go to your Domain Manager with your login and password

- Under 'Website Configuration' and besides 'URLforwarding', click 'Activate' if the status 'Activated' is not yet shown, otherwise click 'Configuration'

- Besides 'Redirect all traffic from your site to', enter the complete URL to which you want to forward

- Click 'Change'

The changes have immediate effect.

All visitors to your domain will now be redirected to the URL you entered.


C. How to desactivate URL forwarding?

- Go to your Domain Manager with your login and password

- Under 'Website Configuration' and besides 'URLforwarding', click 'Configuration'

- Besides 'Redirect all traffic from your site to', clear the field completely

- Click 'Change'

The changes have immediate effect.

From now on, all visitors to your domain will no longer be redirected.


D. Why is URL forwarding not working properly?

There are several possible reasons for the URL forwarding not to be working:

- In your Domain Manager, check that the status for URL forwarding is 'Activated'

- Check the URL to be correct

- Copy the URL in your internet browser. Your site has to be visible now.


E. Which address is visible in the internet browser (URL cloaking, URL framing)?

You can choose which address to shoz in your internet browser: the original URL you entered, or the URL of the site to which is forwarded:

- Go to your Domain Manager with your login and password

- URL forwarding should already be activated. If this is not the case, configure URL forwarding first.

- Under 'Website Configuration' and besides 'URLforwarding', click 'Configuration'

- Check the box 'Framed redirect'

The changes have immediate effect.

Visitors to your site will now be shown the original URL (URL forwarding wiht cloaking of framing).


Attention:

- When your URL Forwarding is activated, the default configuration can not be activated anymore because the default configuration has no redirection.

- When your URL Forwarding is activated, you need to use our nameservers. We can only redirect your visitors if they are guided via us.

- URL Forwarding is not used with a hosting formula. If you website is hosted on our servers, you don't need to activate the URL Forwarding.
