Until now, the legal registration or renewal period for a .CO.UK domain name was 2 years. But Nominet, the Registry of the English extension, has decided to change this. As of May 1, 2012 it will be possible to register a .CO.UK domain name for 1 to 10 years, according to your own preference!

Even though there’s no general rule for all registers concerning the numbers of characters limited for the registration of a domain name, most of the registers keep the limit of a minimum of three characters. Why is that? The main reason is simple: it is in order to avoid the fact that a domain name might be registered under a country code.
