Domain name questions - solutions

How can I upload my website?

A. Which tools can I use to upload my website?

There are 3 possibilities for uploading your website:

1. With the domain manager

- Go to your domain manager

- Under ‘Website Configuration', click 'Open FTP connection'

- A new pop-up window opens (you have to allow pop-ups in the options of your internet navigator) with the contents of your hosing space
The first time you click this link, the pop-up window will be empty. You just have to copy your website to this window.

2. With FrontPage

If your site was built with Frontpage (Microsoft), you can use the built-in tool for it's publication.

- Click 'Website publication' in the 'File' menu

- Make sure you select the option ‘server with Frontpage extensions’

- Enter following information:

Url: http://www.Register.be

Login and password given to you

Important: If your site was built with Frontpage, you cannot use the 2 other publication methods, since this would delete the installed extensions.

3. With FTP-access (File Transfer Protocol)

Every hosting formula has a FTP-access on which you can connect with the login and password that you received.

All FTP programs are different, but when you want to connect to the server, they will all ask following information:
- Server (or url): http://www.mydomain.net

- Login: rb-*********-**

- Password: *****

Remote Directory: this field has to remain empty when required by the program.

B. What is my login?

The website publication access codes have been given to you at the moment you ordered.

The login of your hosting (not to be confused with the login of your domain manager) has following format:

The 2 letters 'rb', followed by the hyphen '-', followed by your domain name without the extension, followed by the hyphen '-', followed by the extension.

Example of a hosting login: ‘rb-mydomain-net’

If you do not have this information anymore:

- Go to your domain manager

- Under 'Domain Name' click 'Password overview'

C. Is the number of pages limited?

If you build your own site, there is no page limit. The only limit is the disc space of your hosting formula.
