  • .AFRICA: soon available (02/11/2011)

    As it is already known, this year the ICANN has decided to honour Africa by choosing the city of Dakar to organize its 42nd international meetings, from last October 23 to 28. This event was the ideal opportunity to launch .AFRICA!

  • .ME: 178 domains on auction (31/10/2011)

    When in 2008 the .ME was launched, the Montenegro’s Registry (doMEn) decided to keep some “premium” domain names aside. Generic domain names with high commercial potential value. The goal was not to forbid these names but to release them progressively through an auction.

  • .EU : 9000 domain names to be released (20/10/2011)

    EURid, the .EU Registry, is going to release on October 24,25 around 9000 domain names. A Chinese citizen, pretending to be a London resident, Mrs. Zheng registered these names. In 2006 she was suspected by the EURid to provide a fake address and the Registry decided to block these domain names by going to the Brussels Court of Appeal.

  • The AFNIC opens up to Europe (28/09/2011)

    Soon, members of the European Union will finally be able to register domain names under .FR, as well as under any of the other “French” extensions (handled by the AFNIC) such as WF, .TF, .RE, .PM, or .YT.

  • .FR celebrates its birthday! (21/09/2011)

    One single click on the Afnic’s website and you will know it : the French top-level extension is celebrating its 25 years of online existence! On that occasion, the registry in charge of .FR gives all he’s got to organize a big campaign around this event.

  • Kazakhstan launches its new extension (14/09/2011)

    On September 8th, the ICANN announced in a press release on its official website that Kazakhstan had successfully completed the tests allowing the country to have its own extension in Kazakh language, .қаз. The registrations of domain names under this extension should open within few months.

  • .XXX : protect yourself ! (07/09/2011)

    Today is the day: .XXX takes the plunge and from now on, registrations are open. After a great number of polemics, the extension called everybody’s attention again by establishing a new procedure that we are not used to see.
